Bulletin n°1

The French Technology Press Bureau (FTPB), the London bureau of UBIFRANCE, is pleased to announce the launch of this bimonthly newsletter, which we have called ‘FTPB News’, together with the re-launch of our website, which has been extensively revamped, and whose address is www.ftpb.co.uk

FTPB News will give you a round-up of all our main press releases, every two months, and will come out round the 10th of the month. We intend to send it electronically to a core list of journalists and editors who work with us on a regular basis, including yourself. We hope you will find FTPB News useful, if only to help you identify stories in your field that you may have somewhat missed when they came out.

We have structured the newsletter in the most user-friendly way possible, around key sectors that are clearly identified in the list below. If you click on any of the headings (such as ‘Electronics and Electrical’), it will take you straight to the section of the newsletter where stories relevant to you have been listed.

For each story, we give you a headline and an introductory paragraph outlining the story, together with a web link that will take you straight to the full text (should you want to read more about the topic discussed), and also the URL of the company concerned (should you want to check their website for yourself).

If there is any story that is of special interest to you, we can provide you with further information, including the company’s contact details and JPEG photos — just get in touch with Ms Kate Ambler , FTPB’s Press Officer.

The revamped FTPB website should prove easier to use and we will post up a range of reference documents on it, as we have started doing, not only about FTPB and UBIFRANCE, but also about Franco-British business relations and the like. You will find a host of useful and relevant links on www.ftpb.co.uk, which, we hope, will become a tool of choice when you want to write about French technology and business in the future.

If you have suggestions for improving the site, do not hesitate to let us know, and we will endeavour to implement them if we can — it is always good to get some feedback.

As you will see, we have many interesting stories in today’s issue of FTPB News, from wireless technology used in automatic metering (Coronis) to financial services and the software programs that can sustain them (Infinancials), as well as kitchen and refrigeration equipment (SYNEG and ACTIF Industries), technical textiles for use in the construction industry (Ferrari), and many more.

FTPB News will keep you informed of the sectors that we cover, where many cutting-edge French companies are expanding. Among them is the marine-technology and shipping industry. Indeed, in late April, we are taking a group of five specialist journalists to Paris and Marseilles , where they will be visiting a range of companies and port facilities in their field.

I hope you will enjoy receiving and reading FTPB News.

Philip Jolly, Managing Director of FTPB
